Nutmace Red,जावित्री, ജാതിപത്രി

Nutmace, known as Javitri in northern India and Jathipoo in southern India, is the covering found on the nutmeg.  This reddish and lacy wrapper in its dried form is used to flavour sauces, meat dishes and bakery items and as a preservative in pickles. Said to stimulate the appetite and improve digestion, it
also keeps the teeth and gums healthy. In traditional medicines, it is an important ingredient in aphrodisiacs and antidepressants.
